Niswarth is a charity working for the disabled and underprivileged population of North Bengal and Assam since 2006. Most of our members are from the BPL( Below Poverty Line Status) section of tea garden and neighbouring village population consisting of mainly SC/ST.
During our camps in various tea gardens, we have come across many Deaf and Mute children who do not attend school but forced do menial household jobs or community cow grazing.
Niswarth had identified Eight(8) such children from Eight different tea gardens in 2008 and educated them at Salvation Army School, Darjeeling.
Feeling the social need, We have very recently opened our own school for Deaf & Mute children at Niswarth House, Bagracote Tea Garden. We have appointed a well qualified teacher who himself is Deaf & Mute.
Our medium of education in this school is English which offers better opportunity for higher education and job placements. This is the only English medium such school in Dooars.
